Came across this story about a British mans experience or perceived experience about being scammed. This is a very detailed account, Is it a good case study or a study in paranoia gone wild you be the judge.

Finally trudged through his story whew! I don't know, he's married and wanted to find romance, couldn't he have done it in his own backyard, so to speak? But he had to find a girl, young enough to be his granddaughter, in an impoverished country and use his superior financial advantage to find romance? His words: "I accepted that our exchange was simply that I had the financial means to elevate her slightly in terms of her material surroundings and offer her the security of my absolute love - in return for her happiness being shared under the umbrella of our relationship". Doesn't sound like an honest relationship to me. Not to say she wasn't a scammer, but he went in too quick, in more ways than one hehe.

I am sorry he had a bad time.

Good to keep in mind people do better with other cultures when they've had some experience with them. In my case, and for many, military service allowed me to spend years in Asia, as well as run across many Asian people at work.

my opinion is that i don't think Mayen was a scammer. Sorry, Tim. You had reasons to be suspicious. There was a lot of people who don't communicate well and it only confirmed your suspicions in your mind.

By the way Ellumbra welcome to WOF. I am very happy that you took the opp to attend this forum. The truth be told your story left me in a state of ambivalence for there are alot of traits in your love interest that were very culturally appropriate. On the other hand there were red flags flying everywhere.

I am looking forward to a very good thread here and i hope that we all can learn alot from your experience. However the interpretation. All i have to say is do not let 1 bad experience deter you from finding the one you love in the Philippines. That is why we r here for most of us have.

I will promise one thing to you...Your blog will be the only one that I have read from cover to cover. From what I've read so far and i'm on page 9 so far I don't see signs of her scamming you or even being the scamming type.

Not saying one way or the other yet but I will give my honest opinion when I'm finished.

So far I think your too paranoid and were expecting to get scammed. Not that you were scammed but I think it's the filters you ran all your information through. If you're a big proponent in the law of attraction then you know that you get what you put out there. And you were afraid of being taken advantage of.

And calling yourself the Golden Goose...wow. I don't know what to say about that yet.

If my post seems a bit too much for you to handle I am not part of the so called conspiracy against you. So please don't include me in your accusations.

I'm sure you will find some of our opinions interesting in here and I promise when I'm finished reading this adventure my response will be equally thought provocing.

By the way do you plan on visiting the Philippines again? I'm just curious?

I find your blog really interesting and found myself reading it for days now and hoping to give my unsolicited reaction in its entirety. Im sorry that you feel scammed. However, I dont think you were scammed. I dont think a scammer will expose a potential victim to her family, collegues and friends.

after reading ur blogs for hours,, i feel sad for you and the girl. I dont think it was her intention to scammed you.

ive noticed that u always discussed the money that u spend for her, if u were really serious about her then money is not an issue. you can ask a lot of guys here, they support their fiancees even before they met, because you know we are in the 3rd world country.
and why did u posts her family pics on the net, i dont think that they knew about everything, my god she introduces u to them, it must have meant something. i feel sorry for them, u only lost your money and ur precious time but the family of that girl .....

I read you blog, but didn't feel the need to comment because I didn't think you were around here. I really saw no evidence of you being scammed. I know you thought the scar was faked based on your friends blowing up the picture and his enhancement of the image, but I can make you see anything when I enhance an image. If its not there in the original picture, enhancement is only a guess of the operator of the software. And why did you not put that image on the sight? What makes me think you messed up thinking you were getting scammed, was seeing her on a cam later and she showed you the scar again. WAs she sitting there every day refreshing a drawn on scar? The unchanging IPs occuring earlier would have said something. But having it occur after you had essentially burned her, her family, and her coworkers, rather badly (assuming there was no scam), a little screwing around back on you might not be an uncommon reaction. And even then she was not asking for money. She may have been trying to play a guilt game to get you come back to her.

I'm not saying you were not getting scammed, I really just saw no evidence of it in your writings, just a lot of fears of being scammed. And if you worry about something enough, if you give a thing a name enough, you can damn well make it happen. Too much just doesn't ring true of what your typical scammer would try to pull. Taking you home to the family certainly isn't even close to the norm unless a woman really cares for you. And there are just too many opportunities you gave that I could not see a scammer not biting on.

You may have made a big mistake, you may have saved yourself to. I think only God knows at this point.

Having read the entire thing, he mentioned in it that he has made it invitation only many times when he felt he may have been wrong about getting scammed. I'm really not sure if he was or not. As the saying goes, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

I didn't get to read the whole thing i did read a good deal. I never saw that he's made the blog invitation only at time.

If I had that would create even more suspicion with me coz he could be editing the blog to fit his purpose. Sort of like him deleting his post in here coz some of it was incriminating.

Incriminating and he couldn't find a sympathetic audience...He's proven in other venues already to accused the people that don't agree with him of being involved with the "syndicated scam" lOl

If he doesn't want to invite me to his blog that's ok i've got enough information now to realized who and what he is.

If he's so hell bent on the truth...he will be glad to invite me ...assuming he comes back.

I don't mind exposing a scammer....on the other hand....I don't mind exposing people that only serve to lie and hurt others..no matter who they are.

It's his call.

I had a chance to read the entire blog, before he retreated behind the "invite only".

This guy felt it was OK to go the Philippines, while married back in the UK, and engage
a filipina in a relationship that he had no intentions of ever pursuing.

SHAME ON HIM !!

He got the young lady pregnant, and then to weazle out of paying for the complicated
pregnancy, he then decides he is being scammed.

Reading the blog, only shows his stupidity and lack of understanding what one can expect
from dealings in the Philippines.

In all reality, he was the SCAMMER, and in my opinion he deserves whatever legal actions
all the harmed parties bring on him.

I hope he has no intentions of ever returning to the Philippines, but then again it would
be kind of funny if he did and finds out what happens to him.

yea I remember he said he had to cover his tracks in his liaison. I should have downloaded his blog when I had the chance. maybe it's in someone's web browser cache? hint hint wink wink nudge nudge

what was proven with your "video of fake scar"? it looked like it was covered in white bandage. Same as me when I had my hernia operation back in 1983. they cover it with a mesh so it can heal. then you peel it off. Why you don't make your blog open to all to read? I have downloaded your video of her scar from several websites to my pc. where is your "enhancements" from your friend? Ano bayan!
